My son and I attended the March for Babies over the weekend. It was a fun event for good cause. Along the 5-mile route, walkers were entertained by a marching band and a zydeco group. I had to stop and dance a little bit when the zydeco band played My Toot Toot.
After the walk, my son and I participated in several of the activities at the various tents that were set up. Each tent blasted music to entice walkers to visit their party. It was interesting to listen to the various musical styles that wafted throughout the event. Although the music ranged from country to hip-hop, the sounds blended together to form an exciting party vibe.
My son and I danced, sang, learned out to juggle, raced slot cars, climbed a rock wall and milked a cow. But our favorite activity was getting our arms painted.
We noticed several people getting their faces painted and decided to join in. As I surveyed all of the face-painters, I was drawn to one of the artists. She wore a colorful, floor-length dress that gave her a bohemian vibe. Handmade jewelry covered her neck, hands, and ears and made her look like a walking Etsy billboard. Her hair was a rainbow of blond tresses, vibrant yarns, and patterned bows.
My son sat in her chair first and asked her to paint a dragon on her arm. The artist dipped her brush in the paint tray and commenced her masterpiece. I was amazed my her artistry and speed. She only took about three minutes to paint an stunning fire-breather on my son’s arm.
The artist looked up at me and asked, “You want me to paint something for you, honey?” I sat down in the chair and immediately asked her to paint a guitar. I thought that she would paint a guitar that looked like a Strat, but she surprised me by painting an 8-string acoustic guitar.
I was quite pleased with the results and I was reluctant to wash it off. If I ever decide to get a permanent tattoo, I’ll definitely seek this artist to do the honors.
Peace & Blessings
